Do Not Cram!
Have you ever studied all night for a test, passed it, but then forgot everything a week later?
This happens to everyone. It is called "cramming," and it does not work for long. Your brain forgets things quickly if you don't use them.
There is a better way called Spaced Repetition.
The Forgetting Curve
A long time ago, a scientist found out that we forget 50% of what we learn in just one hour!
But, if you review what you learned the next day, you remember it longer. If you review it again 3 days later, you remember it even longer.
How to Study Smart
Instead of studying for 5 hours on Sunday, study for 20 minutes every day.
- Day 1: Learn it.
- Day 2: Review it quickly.
- Day 4: Review it again.
- Day 7: Review it one more time.
This tells your brain: "Hey, this is important! Keep this information!"
Tips for Math Practice
Math is about doing, not just reading. Here is how to practice smart:
1. The "Daily 15"
Use MathQuizMaster for just 15 minutes a day. Doing a little bit every day is much better than doing a lot once a week.
2. Mix It Up
Don't just do addition one day and subtraction the next. Mix them up! Do 2 addition problems, then 2 multiplication problems.
This is harder, but it makes your brain work better. You have to decide which tool to use, which helps you learn faster.
3. Test Yourself
Don't just look at the answers. Try to solve the problem yourself first. When you struggle a little bit to remember, that is when your brain is growing!
Summary
You can learn anything if you study the right way. Don't fight your brain. Work with it! Study a little bit every day, and you will remember math forever.
